The Only Living Pickpocket in New York (2026)
First AMC Screen Unseen, and I wasn’t disappointed!
I was interested in this film from the moment I saw the trailer and the cast involved. Happy to say I walked away satisfied.
John Turturro essentially carries the film, and he does so in fascinating fashion. His charisma, screen presence, and acting ability make his character and story incredibly engaging. We follow him as he pickpockets unsuspecting strangers until he steals from the wrong people. Then the chaos begins.
The film’s aesthetic and atmosphere were easily its strongest qualities for me. The jazz music, New York setting, and overall tone worked beautifully together. It’s not some grand, complex narrative. In fact, it’s fairly straightforward, with little drama, but that doesn’t make the journey any less engaging.
The supporting cast all play their parts well, and the film sticks the landing with a satisfying ending. Nothing groundbreaking, but a thoroughly enjoyable watch!
