Rating: 4 out of 5.

Idk if Star Wars has me in a chokehold or if it’s just the anticipation of the first Star Wars film in 7 years, but I really enjoyed this! My only real issues: it’s not the most visually pleasing at times (mainly because of the Hutts), and around the one hour mark it feels like the movie should end, only to continue with a bit of a “Part 2” vibe.

A standout for me was the sequence where Mando is out of commission and Grogu is on his own. Seeing him meditate, use the skills Mando taught him, and actually be useful aside from being fuckin’ adorable was awesome.

I’ve always messed with Mando because of the Batman parallels, the mask becomes the true identity. So when he’s unmasked, there’s a vulnerability that really lands. I hope Lucasfilm and Disney keep Star Wars on the big screen annually, where it belongs. Next up: Starfighter (2027).
