Forgotten Island (2026)
Immediately as the film opens, there’s a sense of personality and a refreshing atmosphere. I absolutely loved this film! It has a few minor bumps in the road, but overall, it’s an incredibly satisfying original story… keyword: ORIGINAL.
Contrary to popular belief, some of the most original movies are coming out today. Unfortunately, this is another case of a GREAT original film receiving little marketing and, as a result, not finding much financial success. That’s a damn shame because this is great!
The film has parallels to The Hangover, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and The Mitchells vs. the Machines… all films I either really like or genuinely love. The references, SOUNDTRACK, gags, and overall comedy really worked for me.
The animation is unique and incredibly expressive, similar to KPop Demon Hunters, which only elevates the experience. At its core, we’re watching two friends journey through time, creating memories together, only to enter a world that threatens those very memories. That concept is genuinely compelling.
The supporting cast is extremely likable, and dare I say it… this may have brought a few tears to my eyes.
Absolutely a contender for Best Animated Film of the Year.
