Disclosure Day (2026)
Spielberg returns to the alien playing field, but unfortunately gets lost in the field.
Disclaimer: Spielberg is one of my favorite directors and, in my opinion, the GOAT. I love most of his work, but this one didn’t land for me. Even the marketing felt underwhelming, relying more on Spielberg’s name than establishing the plot or stakes.
This leans far more into espionage and action-thriller territory than sci-fi. The alien elements feel like an afterthought, while most of the film follows the leads being chased by FBI agents. My biggest issue is the pacing. The runtime drags, and it takes far too long to get where it’s going. By the end, I wasn’t even sure what the film wanted to be.
That said, there are positives. Emily Blunt is the standout and could easily find herself in the Oscar conversation. Josh O’Connor is solid, and the cinematography features some impressive camera work.
It’s not a terrible Spielberg film, but it’s far from one of his best and ultimately feels forgettable.
